Calcium helps to lower the pressure for men

Nutritional supplements with calcium did not contribute to weight loss and reducing cholesterol levels in men, but also help to control blood pressure.
This is the conclusion reached staff of the University of Auckland (New Zealand) results of the study 323 healthy men over 40 years. The subjects were divided into groups: in two years took a daily 600 mg of calcium, the other – to 1 200 mg, and the third all the time drinking a placebo.
As it turned out , supplementation with calcium did not change the ratio of “bad” and “good” cholesterol, did not affect the weight, fat and muscle mass, the contents of triglyceride and total cholesterol. The subjects who took calcium, noted only a slight decrease in blood pressure, but this trend was found statistically insignificant, said Kompyulenta.
However, in a group of men who took 1 200 mg of calcium daily, systolic (upper) blood pressure decreased by four divisions of the scale tonometer, and the diastolic (bottom) – three notches in comparison with those who drank on 785 mg. A similar effect was observed in men who have been at the start of the experiment at least 392 mg of magnesium per day.
Food additives recommended for use with calcium for strong bones for women after menopause. Found that after the intake of calcium in these patients decreased the level of cholesterol in the blood, but to explain why the supplements do not have the same impact on men, experts still can not.
