Saffron is useful to view

Saffron – a spice used in many Eastern and Mediterranean dishes – can prevent blindness in older people, say scientists from Australia and Italy.
In the course of the experiment one group of subjects of the Italians for three months has saffron tablets, and then the same time – a placebo. The second group saw the same preparations, but in reverse order.
As it turned out, while taking pills saffron in all experimental eyesight improved, many of them even again able to read books and newspapers . But as soon as they finished the “saffron” course, beneficial effects to quickly disappear, reports Kompyulenta.
According to the researchers, saffron not only prevents senile vision loss, but also acts as natural sunglasses, protecting the eyes from damage caused by bright sunlight. Probably the spice in some way affect the genes that regulate the content of fatty acids in cell membranes, resulting in visual cells become more elastic. In addition, saffron improves oxygenation and prevents cell death.
Currently, the researchers conducted a one-year experiment to see how the saffron, and to determine its optimal dosage. The scientists also intend to verify whether the saffron is capable to treat the genetic eye disease (such as retinitis pigmentosa), which can cause long-lasting blindness in young people.
