Lukashenko takes oil from Russia revenge

Since February 15, 2007 the Ministry of Economy of Belarus sharp increases in tariffs for the transit of oil the system of main pipelines. The Office has set tariffs for oil transit services without VAT in the amount of 3,5 to 1,29 dollars per ton to 100 kilometer.

According to experts, revenues from Minsk processing and resale of cheap Russian oil up more than 3 5 billion dollars annually. American information agencies such an arrangement UPI calls “subsidizing” the Belarusian economy by Russia. And the introduction of fees for the transit of Russian oil Lukashenko regards as an intention to commit any price “revenge” for the increase in gas prices.

In 2006, Belarus was delivered by the Russian oil transit of 78,7 million tons (98,8 % to the level of 2005).
